Piku, a film directed by Shoojit Sircar has the lead role of Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Irrfan Khan but according to a source, Deepika wasn’t the first choice for this film. It often happens with many celebrities as it became a kind of tradition in Bollywood. Films pass on from one actor to another due to various reasons. It has both positive and negative impact on the movie. Some of the examples of this scenario are Katrina Kaif was replaced by Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Street Dancer 3D’, Parineeti Chopra replaced Shraddha Kapoor in the biopic of Saina Nehwal and Katrina Kaif replaced Priyanka Chopra in ‘Bharat’. And now, surprisingly, it is being told that Deepika Padukone wasn’t the first choice for Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’.
Parineeti Chopra recently made an appearance on a chat show with her BFF, tennis ace Sania Mirza, and revealed that she could have been Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’ in his 2015 slice-of-life film.
A leading daily article quotes the actress talking about her reasons behind missing out on ‘Piku’:
“I didn’t really turn down the film… there was confusion. I was going to do another film at the same time and then that film also didn’t happen, so it was my loss.”
While Parineeti is a talented actor in her own right, her style of acting is quite different from Deepika’s. However, we don’t think anyone other than Deepika Padukone could have pulled off the character.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, ‘Piku’ is an endearing father-daughter tale, with megastar Amitabh Bachchan essaying the role of Deepika‘s on-screen dad. ‘Piku’ was not only a commercial success but got critical acclaim as well.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Parineeti will be seen in ‘Jabariya Jodi’ opposite Sidharth Malhotra and the film is slated to release on August 2, 2019. Besides this, Parineeti is also prepping up for the biopic on badminton player Saina Nehwal and will be seen in ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’ opposite Arjun Kapoor.
