First things first. I am an A. R. Rahman fan. So, while I’m trying to keep that bias away as I write this, I might not be completely successful.
One Heart is not just a film, it’s an experience. The documentary narrates the journey of Rahman and his band with a mix of interviews and concert footage of the band performing. The best part about the film is that it’s not just Rahman centric. The other band members are highlighted and you know about their life stories and inspirations. You also know about how they became a part of the band.
Apart from some tacky use of CGI, the editing is top notch. Some portions, in which they are singing on stage or working on their music off stage, will give you goosebumps. I only wish there were more insights about the band and how they create music.
So while it is certainly far from perfect, you should still watch One Heart. You’ll like it more if you are a fan of A. R. Rahman and music. We give it 3 stars with a kink.
