Movie Review: Khamoshiyan – Maintain A Two Minute Silence Post Seeing This One

khamoshiyan-04It has a patchy first half, an equally boring second half and yes a dash of sex; well we are talking about Khamoshiyan directed Karan Darra.

Khamoshiyan is all bout Kabir (Ali Fazal), a novelist, who is heart broken after his girlfriend dumped him for another man.

Aimlessly he reaches the icy slopes of Kashmir hills and valleys (which is not Kashmir) in search of a story wherein he discovers Meera (Sapna Pabbi) who has not stepped out of her house from the past two years. Now was she under house arrest or was she sick or whatever; something that is left for us to decide.

Kabir checks in the guesthouse that is owned and managed by Meera. The guesthouse hardly has guest in it, but still it’s a guesthouse.

Poor Meera is married to Jaidev (Gurmeet Choudhary), who was once a rich businessman but now a pauper. That’s indeed so intelligent, cause with the kind of clothes they wear and the things they still have in the house it does not seem like.

Anyways, moving on, Kabir is drawn towards Meera, sexually of course and before you can even think they are having raunchy sex.

Post all this Kabir starts getting confused whether the guesthouse is haunted or is he seeing things. Anyways I am still confused post seeing the film so lets not even get there.

Khamoshiyan is all about Kabir’s quest to unearth the truth and the mysteries, right from the woman to the man she has been married to.

As far as the performances are concern, Ali Fazal in kind of ok, Gurmeet Choudhary in his negative role is as wooden as he can get and lastly we have Sapna Pabbi, who is desperately trying to be a wannabe Bipasha Basu. All she has managed to do is get both Gurmeet and Ali to bed and that’s where it ends for this poor girl.

Khamoshiyan has a script that moves at a pace slower than a snail thus making sure that the viewers can go out have coffee come back and again go out for some popcorn.

At the end of it, the theater owners would really be happy to have Khamoshiyan running, cause if not their shows, their food stalls would for sure have a full house.
