Dolly Ki Doli is all about a run away bride, who takes a lot of pride in calling herself Looteri Dulhan.
Dolly (Sonam Kapoor) is the bride in question, who dupes men into marriage only to rob them of their cash and valuables. She does this over and over and over again and that’s what the film is all about.
The first one to fall for her is Sonu Sherawat (Rajkummar Rao), a sugarcane farmer from Sonepat whose heart is broken by his runaway con-artist bride. He is proud of his roots and forever ready to do anything for the girl he loves.
By the time Sonu wakes up on his first day as a married man, Dolly has cleaned out his family home of all their valuables and vanished. Little does Sonu know that he’s joined a long list of men who have fallen prey to the woman whose exploits are recorded in a police file labelled Looteri Dulhan.
With Dolly Ki Doli Rajkummar Rao has emerged as the new Item Boy Of Bollywood. He should take a break from acting and do a couple of item numbers.
Anyways, moving on, the next one to fall for Dolly is Manoj Singh Chadda (Varun Sharma). Archana Puran Singh essays the role of his over the top Punjabi mom who is in control of the whole family and all decisions.
It is only Dolly who manages to break her authority when the son, Manoj, decides to revolt for his love.
Post this walks in Police Officer Robin Singh (Pulkit Samrat), who is desperately trying to be Salman Khan from Dabangg and that’s where the film tends to get boring and monotonous.
To add to all this, we have Saif Ali Khan, as a Rajasthani prince in a cameo. Needless to say, he doesn’t really have to as much do on the film.
The other actors who essays important parts in the movie are Raju (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), who is in love with Dolly but knows it will go nowhere as Dolly only believes in faking the marriage and Manoj Joshi as the father of the bride.
But the problem with Dolly Ki Doli is the plastic, fashionista and almost fake Sonam Kapoor. She hardly looks rustic and one feels that Madam Kapoor is actually getting ready to walk the Milan Fashion Week.
The basic plot of the film is the journey of a girl who takes on the bad world of men and the hypocrite institution of marriage, is interesting, but with Sonam Kapoor and a shoddy script the film is like a torture.
Best avoid this one and go for a second round of Baby. Atleast that’s value for money!!!
It looks fake, it has a shoddy script and it has Sonam Kapoor straight from the Milan Fashion Week; well that's what Dolly Ki Doli is all about. Do...1.5
