Milan Talkies tells the ‘flimy’ love story of an aspiring director Annu (Ali Fazal) and Maithli (Shraddha Srinath) a girl destined to get married once she passes her exam. In order to help her pass, Maithli’s relatives ask Annu for help as he leaks question papers to fund his films. After meeting, the two fall in love leading to problems with the family. What follows is what the film is all about.
It is written by Kamal Pandey and Tigmanshu Dhulia but has a very weak script and screenplay. You may laugh but wonder if you’re laughing with them or at them. You may also want to keep a crocin in hand if it gets too much.
The actors too aren’t up to mark. After showing his acting capabilities in Amazon’s Mirzapur, Ali falls flat as AnnuHe isn’t bad but he isn’t on the same level as Guddu. Shraddha delivers nothing special. Talented actors like it Ashutosh Rana and Sanjay Mishra weren’t used to full capacity. Reecha Sinha and Sikandar Kher has a good part but don’t deliver anything outstanding. Tigmanshu as Annu’s father is a delight but can’t save the film.
Talking about the music, for the exception of Bakaiti you may not remember any other song. The Holi song – Mind Na Kariyo Holi Hai – seemed forced. The background music too is loud and distracting.
This movie is not worth spending your money on as if has a weak script. We give Milan Talkies one star with no kink!
