The most awaited action-comedy film of the year, Dishoom releases today. The movie stars John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Saqib Saleem, while Akshaye Khanna is seen as an antagonist. Parineeti Chopra, Nargis Fakhri and superstar Akshay Kumar have a cameo in the movie. So, does the movie pack a punch or not, let me tell you.
The story is based in the UAE where India’s top batsman Viraj (Saqib Saleem) is kidnapped before an important India-Pakistan final. Buddy cop duo, Kabir (John) and Junaid (Varun), is sent by the Indian Ministry on a manhunt where they only have 36 hours to find the missing cricketer. Viraj is kidnapped by Wagah (Akshaye), who is a bookie. On their mission, they come across Ishika who is a petty thief and is willing to help the duo as she has already seen the face of one of the kidnappers.
The screenplay of the movie is good as it narrates the story in a fast-paced entertaining way. The dialogues are cheeky and interesting, to say the least. Some of the dialogues will leave you laughing or impressed even after you step out of the movie hall. The story of the film will appeal to everyone as it not only is masaledaar, but also has the cricket angle to it. What else does a true blue Indian need! The first half of the movie is filled with amazing punchlines while the second half is packed with amazing action sequences.
Scenes To Watch Out For:
1. Akshay Kumar’s hyped cameo in the movie. As usual, the Khiladi does full justice to his character and adds to the comic element of the movie.
2. Kabir and Junaid hanging off the helicopters and ramming into an FJ cruiser and grabbing Wagah out, threatening to drop him into the ocean.
3. Akshaye Khanna gets a worthy comeback with his entry scene
The movie is well directed, the cinematography is an ace, and the action sequences will give you an adrenaline rush! The cinematography is on point throughout, thanks to Ayananka Bose. The underwater chase scene is very well shot. That scene had us on the edge of our seats, an exhilarating one indeed. The scene, which took 5 days in rehearsals and another 6 days for shooting, was absolutely a delight; more so because the actors shot for the scenes themselves without opting for body-doubles. Well, we must say, the hard work definitely paid off boys! Kudos to the team!
All the actors have put in a lot of hard work for the movie and it shows. The movie is surely a glamorous one. With hotties like Jacqueline, Nargis, and Parineeti, the movie will surely sizzle at the box office! The buddy cop duo of Kabir and Junaid are like the new age Main Khiladi Tu Anari duo, Akshay Kumar, and Saif Ali Khan.
The music created waves in the audience since day one! Jaaneman Aah, Sau Tarah Ke, and the Dishoom title track are really well sung. You are in for a visual treat when the songs play during the course of the movie.
Dishoom Final Verdict:
Dishoom is a complete package of entertainment, action, comedy, and drama. If you haven’t seen a good movie in a long time, you will definitely love Dishoom! It is living up to its expectations of being one of the best action comedy movies this year, without a doubt!
