His funeral most probably will take place tomorrow (November 13, 2014) at around 11:00 am.” informed a source close to Ravi Chopra’s family.
The director who’s Baghbaan created a lot of Box Office records, was hospitalized last week on Thursday (November 06, 2014) and was said to be making a recovery.
Sources close to the family said that the veteran filmmaker was suffering from a neurodegenerative disease. While the family was in a state of shock and could not speak, staff at the offices of the late filmmaker confirmed the news.
“We got to know that Mr. Chopra passed away at 03:30 pm today afternoon. The family was by his side when it happened. As of now we don’t have much information.” stated a source close to the family.
Ravi Chopra was suffering from a severe lung ailment since the last few years. On October 23, 2012, he was diagnosed with a severe lung ailment. He was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital and was discharged after a week on October 26, 2012.
According to sources, Ravi Chopra was diagnosed with Lung Cancer though no one confirmed the news.
Son of late B.R. Chopra, Ravi Chopra belonged to an illustrious Bollywood family. His uncle was filmmaker Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra are Ravi Chopra’s cousins.
Ravi Chopra has directing films like Zameer (1975), The Burning Train (1980), Mazdoor (1983), Dahleez (1986), Baghban (2003) and Baabul (2006).
He even directed the iconic television series, Mahabharata. He had also directed the television mini-series, Ramayan, which was aired in 2002. Among the other mythological shows he was involved in were – Vishnu Puran and Ma Shakti.
Most recently, Ravi Chopra had produced films like Bhoothnath and Bhoothnath Returns, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Ravi Chopra is survived by his wife and three children.
