Arjun Rampal’s Daddy soared a lot of expectations from the audience. Ever since Daddy hit the news, it became a wave on social media, how will be Daddy? Finally, the verdict is out, and Daddy plays it safe in favour of Arun Gawli’s image, making him a hero of Dagdi chawl. The film has a lot of loop holes with confusing time lapse. Due to corrupt government officers and unreliable friends, Arun has suffered a lot through his journey of a gangster.

Arun Gulab Gawli, a son of a jobless mill-worker wishes to turn the table in his favour; later ends up as a gangster. Three friends come up with a gang BRA – Babu, Rama, and Arun; their desire to rule the area Dagdi makes them a rival of the underworld Don, named Maqsood. Arun’s desperate desire to leave the gang and start a fresh makes him a puppet of the system, leaving Maqsood and the gang furious. While the gang BRA was new and getting hold of everything, the not-so-united BRA falls apart due to the sudden death of his gang members. This leaves Arun with no option, instead come ahead with his own gang. It’s his wife and a very few trusted men who hold him together in the entire journey of a gangster. To brush up his image, he joins politics and wishes to move ahead with his life. During the tenure of his elections, a few officials reopen the old cases, enabling him to get out of it. Daddy is put behind the bars, again. Because of public support, he is further sentenced to life imprisonment.

Daddy is surely Arjun’s career-defining role. His prosthetic nose and body language will surely give you a glimpse of Arun Gawli. Ashim Ahluwalia’s direction could have taken it a notch higher but there’s nothing extraordinary about it. A disappointing role of Dawood by a Bollywood biggie is extremely unconvincing; his uptight acting and unable to carry the aura of a don made it a huge disappointment. It’s the story that is a tad slow and a bit boring. One might even doze off while watching the film.

We give Daddy 2 stars with no kink!
