Recently Amitabh Bachchan was snapped cycling on the streets of Kolkata. Mr. Bachchan was in Kolkata after almost eight years as his last shoot in the city was for Rituparno Ghosh’s The Last Lear.
Amitabh Bachchan had recently moved to the city of joy with the entire cast and crew for his upcoming film, Piku directed by filmmaker Shoojit Sircar.
According to the sources, Shoojit Sircar had instructed Mr. Bachchan to stroll through the lanes. But, Mr. Bachchan found a bicycle on the sets and decided to cycle along.
Clad in a loose fitting pink kurta, a blue half-sweater, sports shoes and a cap, Mr. Bachchan was seen having a blast as he paddled through the streets of Kolkata.
“Mr. Bachchan had to cycle sedately on camera. But as soon as Shoojit Da called cut he started jangling the bell merrily and pedalled around. He was like a kid let loose in a candy store. Yesterday, they shot near the Nonapukur tram depot. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has assured the unit complete cooperation and over hundred cops were deployed to ensure that there were no security issues despite the large crowds.” stated our source close to the director.
Amitabh Bachchan has a long-standing relation with the city as it was from here that he went to Bollywood. He wrote on Twitter this morning, “In Piku land!! Too many memories flashing by as the drive from the airport ends but so much more to come in the days ahead. Kolkata shall always hold a special place and space within a city of joy that energises you with intellect and passion!”
While Amitabh Bachchan will play the role of the father, Deepika Padukone, who will be teaming up with him for the second time after Aarakshan, will essay the role of his daughter in Piku.
Here’s wishing team Piku all the best.
