Touted as Aditya Chopra’s boldest movie ever, Befikre seemed a tad too cliched when the trailer released. With Ranveer Singh headlining the cast with Vaani Kapoor in tow, the movie appealed to quite a lot of young audience, and the young-at-heart janta. So, is this movie worth a watch? Let me tell you.
Dharam and Shyra hook up after a fun day, and before you know it, they decide to move in together for a no-strings-attached fun life. But soon, their small, small harqatein irritate the other, and they break up within a year. Post the breakup, Shyra and Dharam change as a person for good, and they reconcile, but this time as friends. Enter, Aney, a “not-boring” investment banker who proposes marriage to Shyra. What’s going to happen next? How is Aney going to affect the equation between Shyra and Dharam? This forms the rest of the story.
The movie is filled with cliches. Right from lust at first sight to jealousy-making-you-realise-something’s-off, from commitment phobia to running out on your wedding – the movie has it all. But it’s the execution that helps you stay put on your seat till the end. The screenplay is entertaining, no doubt; however, there are scenes that will remind you of Band Baaja Baaraat, Ali from Dhoom, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, and a lot of other movies.
Scenes To Watch Out For:
The whole night when the investment banker is introduced
Ranveer getting a lap dance and the scene after that
They were right when they said that Befikre is Aditya Chopra’s boldest directorial ever. But surprisingly, the man who is known to make family films, has directed this youth-centric rom-com also fantastically. Editing, Cinematography, everything is on point.
With Aditya Chopra directing the flick, there was no doubt about the acting being flawless. But it’s Ranveer who steals the show right from the word go! There’s not a single scene where he doesn’t look convincing. He is an absolute delight on screen. In fact, nobody but RS could have played this part so fantabulously. Vaani Kapoor is also fine, but could have been better. The other supporting actors, too, are good in their parts.
Befikre Movie Review – Final Verdict
Befikre is a movie full of cliches, yet it is entertaining thanks to the live wire that Ranveer Singh is. He is the only one who can carry this film on his shoulders and make it shine. So, watch it… for Ranveer!
