Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale clash was one of the biggest news of 2015. Everyone thought that the clash will be averted, but it took place! As expected, the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer started off very well in the opening weekend. However, the Rohit Shetty directorial was panned by critics and audience (non-SRK lovers).
On the other hand, Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, garnered praises from critics as well as audiences. But, the opening collection of the film was less than Dilwale.
On the 4th day of the release, the scales turned in favour of BM. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial earned more than Dilwale and it was clear that BM is here to stay. In the next few days, Dilwale further saw a drop, while BM was growing day-by-day. On Christmas day, it was expected that Dilwale’s business will see a hike, but that didn’t happen. While Dilwale collected Rs. 8.11 on 25th Dec, BM collected Rs. 12.25 cr.
But, still, the SRK starrer was ahead in the race of collection, thanks to the fantastic opening weekend it got. However, now, Bajirao Mastani has beaten Dilwale at the box-office. After yesterday’s collection, Bajirao Mastani now has Rs. 131 cr in its kitty, while Dilwale is at 129 cr.
So, it is proved that Content Is King. No matter how big a star the film features, good storyline, good acting and good direction is essential.
