He has never got things easy, he has always strived not get typecast and he always wanted to be like Anil Kapoor; well, we are talking about Arjun Mathur an actor who is unconventionally conventional.
Born in London, Arjun Mathur moved to India when he was a child. His journey to stardom began in the year 2004 with Kyun! Ho Gaya Na, where he essayed the role of Sumi. Very few people are aware of the fact that Arjun was an assistant director in the film as well.
The film tanked at the Box Office, but Arjun never lost heart and went ahead to be part of films like Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005), Rang De Basanti (2006) and Bunty Aur Babli (2005) in the capacity of an assistant director.
Once again one saw him as an actor in films like Outsourced (2006), Migration (2007), Positive (2007) and Barah Aana (2009) but none of these films, created a stir at the Box Office.
However, it was Luck By Chance (2009) and My Name Is Khan (2010) that made everyone take notice of this talented actor.
He only has a twelve minute role in Luck By Chance, but then it had a lasting impact on the audiences, such is his talent.
Arjun has always tried to give it his best in whatever he does and is extremely honest and earnest about his craft, something that shows on screen.
What’s commendable about Arjun is the fact that he has always tried because according to him it’s important for an actor to keep working.
There is nothing as good or bad cinema so all you need to do it work and the rest will follow.
With films like Mumbai Cutting, Lions In The Night, I Am, My Friend Pinto and the very recent Coffee Bloom, Arjun Mathur has proved that you cannot curb an actor from showcasing his talent.
Today he may not be a part of big and successful films, but I am sure every soon we will see him shine, shine as a bright star.
Here’s wishing Arjun Mathur all the best for a great future ahead.
