Another Desperate Attempt To Generate Curiosity For Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

detective byomkesh bakshy-02October 20, 2014, the makes had launched the teaser trailer for Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, which kind of went unnoticed.

Exactly two months later, on December 20, 2014, they have launched a hand painted motion poster of the film in the hope that this one would atleast catch eye balls. Sadly this one is also as uninteresting as the former.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy poster which captures history, has been hand painted by Calcutta artists. If not for the content of the movie, one needs to applaud the artiest for using the canvas tastefully.

On December 20, 1943, Japan had dropped an aerial bomb attack on Calcutta right on The Great Eastern Hotel. Japan was then on an aerial attack spree and found Calcutta at a disadvantage, making it an easy target.

The poster has captured this subtly. The moving poster has a glimpse of Sushant Singh Rajput as the detective along with the elements of the Japanese attack.

Dibaker Banerjee and Yash Raj Films have bought the movie rights (for all languages except Bangla) of the thirty one Byomkesh novels Bandyopadhyay wrote over thirty seven years.

Dibaker stated that he wants to make a series and create a franchise centred on Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, just like Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot.

For his first film, the director has combined two novels but is tight lipped about which ones. It is reasonable to speculate that one of them is Satyanveshi, the first Detective Byomkesh Bakshy novel Bandyopadhyay wrote in the year 1932.

In the film, Byomkesh Bakshy will be pitted against an evil genius who is out to destroy the world, says the Yash Raj Films website.

It’s his wits against the most villainous arch criminal the world has seen, in a world of murder, international political intrigue and seduction. The film’s online poster tells viewers to expect the unexpected. Hope this so called unexpected does not turn into a nightmare.

The film stars Anand Tiwari and Swastika Mukherjee besides Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role and is directed by ace filmmaker Dibaker Banerjee. It is scheduled to release on April 10, 2015.
