Disney India has finalized some amazingly talented names from Bollywood to lend their voices to the Hindi version of Hollywood’s much-awaited film, The Jungle Book.
Sultry Priyanka Chopra will be lending her sensuous voice to match Scarlett Johannson’s husky rendition of Kaa, the python. Veteran actor Om Puri will render his voice to the character Bagheera – The Black Panther, which is originally dubbed by Ben Kinsley. Talented Irrfan Khan will lip-sync for the friendly bear Baloo, done by Bill Murray. Seasoned actor Nana Patekar will dub for the fierce Bengal Tiger Shere Khan, which was voiced by Idris Elba. And actress Shefali Shah, who claimed much praise for her performance in her last film Dil Dhadakne Do, will be the voice of Mowgli’s forest mother Raksha, the Wolf, originally voiced by Lupita Nyong’o.
Confirming the news, Disney India’s vice-president Amrita Pandey said, “The Jungle Book is so very special to India, and we want our audience enjoy Disney’s all-new live-action adaptation. We wanted nothing but the best for the Hindi version of the film. We are so excited to have such veterans and A list actors come together to voice and bring alive these beloved characters making it like a hi scale hindi film.”
