Aksar 2 Movie Review: A Decent Thriller

aksar 2

Aksar 2 directed by Ananth Mahadevan, starring Zareen Khan, Gautam Rode, Abhinav Shukla, Mohit Madan, Lillete Dubey & the cricketer-actor Sreesanth is the sequel to the hit 2006 movie Aksar.

Aksar 2 is about an aging millionaire, Dolly Khambatta (Lillete Dubey) who loses her governess in a car accident. Thereafter, she takes help of her beloved investment banker Patrick Sharma (Gautam Rode) to hire a new governess where he meets the young and seductive Sheena Roy (Zareen Khan). She doesn’t fit the job but still impresses Pat and gets the job by just her looks, also she lies about being single when she is dating Ricky (Abhinav Shukla), cause it’s a condition to get the job.
Ms. Khambatta’s loyal staff also includes a secretive servant Bachchan Singh (Mohit Madaan) and an above-suspicion lawyer (S Sreesanth), How each one of these plots to get into Khambatta’s money is what the movie is all about.

Aksar 2 is a thriller that goes a little off the block in the second half just after it picks up a little pace. But credit must be given Mahadevan and his cast, especially Gautam Rode and Zareen Khan, for keeping you in your seat throughout the movie, which is full of confusing twists and turns.

The beautiful locales of Mauritius and the scintillating chemistry between the main leads of the movie are eye-pleasing, but, one can only take a certain amount lovemaking scenes with such a beautiful background. Nonetheless, the chemistry and the locales are a delightful combination.

Gautam Rode looks confident as the lecherous, vulnerable investment banker, and comfortably shifts gears between his lechery, greed, and honesty towards the old woman. Zareen Khan, as the seductress and Abhinav Shukla as her boyfriend are, good enough in this supposed crime thriller. Mohit Madaan, as the scheming, Bachchan Singh, does not get much screen presence in the first half, but he impresses with his acting skills.

Aksar 2 is a film that hooks you up in the first half, it picks up pace at the beginning of the second and then loses its way towards the end.

All in all Aksar 2 is a decent enough thriller, we give it 3 stars with a kink.
